The Team
Jai Henrietta – Editor
It is of utmost importance for me to educate others about the lifestyle of the lesbian woman of colour.
I feel that we are often under-represented and hugely misrepresented in many of the publications I read.
O we do like to party but we also work hard, have families, go on holidays, run households and successful businesses, manage budgets and generally have the same dreams and aspirations as most.
This magazine presents a very real, fun and exciting world, to be enjoyed by everyone. So get stuck in, we've created it for you!
Jai holds a post-graduate certificate in Magazine Journalism and is NCTJ qualified in News writing and Sub-editing
Lorna Gayle – Assistant Editor

At Blessence the crowd integrates and the women are surrounded by like-mindedness. You can let your hair down and have some good old fashioned fun.
Our magazine brings to you the colourful lifestyles of these and many other women who possess amazing skills, a wealth of talent and have fantastic personalities.

Nico - Health & Fitness Writer
I am a health and fitness practitioner with nearly 20 years experience. I believe that EVERYTHING is possible.
My ‘can-do’ philosophy has meant that I am continually developing myself. I currently specialise in delivering Pilates, Fitness Yoga and Freestyle Dance to women to enhance their health, fitness and well being.
I believe that before we give to others we must give to ourselves. It is important to indulge in a measure of self love.
Nico holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Health Studies and is a qualified Pilates/Fitness Yoga Practitioner and a trained dancer
Dorett Jones - Film Reviewer
I have a passion for film and believe this visual medium can capture and evoke the breadth of human emotion and explore the many facets of human beings; Love, tragedy, passion, terror, laughter, sadness, escapism, education, fantasy and simply to dream!
Film can be abstract, personal and controversial igniting debates of key life elements, such as race, sexuality, age and gender. It can also transcend life as we know it and take us somewhere unknown. This is a sample of what can be experienced through film.
I love to explore, quote, discuss and enjoy film, and look forward to contributing to and learning from all of you as we share the wonderful experience of film!
Dorett studied Drama and Dance including workshops with The Alvin Ailey Dance Company. In later years she obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Film and Media from Birkbeck College, University of London. She has produced short fiction films and a documentary.
Dorett has appeared at the Theatre Royal Stratford in a production of Eve Enslers Vagina Monologues.
For several years Dorett participated as a Judge at the annual Wood Green International Short Film Festival

As a creative and eclectic people-person and a writer, I am always drawn to doing things differently.
I also have a passion for dancing, meeting new people and having a good time, so being able to write club reviews for blessence magazine is a perfect way to combine all my interests.
I hope to be able to visit as many events as possible and bring mine and others' experiences to the readers so that more of you will decide to come out and mingle with like-minded women!
Mariah holds a Master's in Television Journalism from Goldsmiths College and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Southampton.
She has worked as a journalist and a feature writer for newspapers in Finland and Uganda and filmed two documentaries in the USA
