What about your best friend, sister, brother, mum, teacher, doctor who you first came out to? The pain, the elation, the relief, the joy...
The balancing act and coming to terms with it...The Gay & Lesbian Switchboard, the Women’s Project, Pride, Stonewall, support groups with tea, coffee and biscuits.
The day you discovered Gingerbeer, The Pink Paper, DIVA, G3, Spare Rib and now, blessence magazine.com...You searched for somewhere to celebrate your new life.
Think of your favourite clubs – Booty, blessence, Soul Naturelle, Oysters, Hustlers, Sugar....
What about your favourite hang-outs – Vauxhall, Soho, Balans, The Edge, Candy Bar, Oak Bar...

What if this were all a dream – just in your head; and if you dared to let it out or seek help or God forbid, celebrate, you would be killed or imprisoned? And those who helped you along the way (such as the above), what if they were imprisoned too?
Well, this is exactly what will happen to our Ugandan homosexual family if recent legislation is passed...
THE ANTI HOMOSEXUALITY BILL, 2009 is described as: ‘An Act to prohibit any form of sexual relations between persons of the same sex.’
In it, the Ugandan LGBT community is seen to be a ‘threat’ to the traditional family and are pointed out as ‘sexual rights activists seeking to impose their values of sexual promiscuity on the people of Uganda.’
More horrifying, the legislation mentions that ‘increasing attempts by homosexuals to raise children in homosexual relationships through adoption, foster care, or otherwise’ make ‘children and youths of Uganda vulnerable to sexual abuse and deviation.’
Thank God it's not you!
Count yourself lucy but don’t turn a blind eye...do something...
